Jennifer Sky Band

Stylish, beautiful and warm, these are just some of the words that sum up Alex’s very talented and creative wife -
“Jennifer Sky Band”

Born in Jensen Beach Florida on Oct 13th 1976, Jennifer was someone who would grow up to make her mark on this world, although naturally beautiful, time would show that there is so much more to her than just the way she looks.

Jen won a magazine competition for modelling and this saw her spend the summer in Japan even though she was only 15!! She went on to move to Miami Beach the year after to pursue a professional modelling career, opportunities opened and she was soon travelling to such destinations as France, Japan, Mexico, Italy and New York, gracing such magazines as “Seventeen” and “Elle” to name a few. It was a very tough business to be in and this small poem she wrote sums up some of her thoughts,
“Past Life – whole”

Acting was to be her next chosen career and after studying in New York she became well versed on the Meisner technique and after guest staring in shows such as “Seaquest” she decided to further herself by moving to Los Angeles, a very tough and unforgiving city that can be extremly difficult to do well in.

But Jen did do well and guest stared in such well known shows as “General Hospital” (as Sarah Webber), “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, “CSI” and the headstrong young amazon “Americe” in “Xena : Warrior Princess”, of which this role led to her playing the starring role as “Cleopatra” in the sci-fi show “Cleopatra 2525”

On stage she played “Frenchie” in Grease and “Juliet”in Romeo and Juliet,

not just content with doing TV shows and stage Jen also stared in movies, including the comedy “Meet Market”, “Shallow Hal” with Jack Black, “Fish Without a Bicycle”and the horror film “My Little eyes”, to get a complete listing of all of the acting work Jen has done click on the banner for her official site at the bottom of the page.

It was while living in LA she was to go on a blind date and it was on this date  she was to meet her “Dream Man” – “Alex”,
that night they talked and talked for hours and from that moment the seeds of their futures together were sown.

Alex’s very talented sister “Taryn”,  Jen and Jens sister Katie launched the fashion business “Vanitas of California”, all are all very involved with the whole growth of what is becoming a very desirable fashion label indeed, favoured by stars such as Cameron Diaz and Mischa Barton to name a few.

On July 25th, 2004 Jennifer and Alex got married on the beach in Florida, they still live in Los Angeles with their two cats Six and Parige, and they also have another house back in Florida, where they love to spend their free time.

After fighting a severe illness, Jennifer became a passionate Donate Life supporter. Donate Life America is a not-for-profit alliance of national organizations and local affiliates across the United States, dedicated to inspiring all people to Donate Life through organ, eye and tissue donation, with a vision of an organ or tissue transplant for everyone in need. Alex and Jennifer now co-chair the spin off organization, “Alex Band’s Donate Life Rocks.”

Jen decided to retire from acting and take up studying creative writing at UCLA, having graduated she is now writing full time, saying she was very blessed to have been taught by Samantha Dunn and also to find a wonderful mentor in modern day fairytale queen, Francesca Lia Block.

As well as writing some truley wonderful poems Jennifer has penned her first book, at the moment its called
“A Model Life: A true fairy tale”,
in her words she says:-
“A Model Life, is a young adult memoir about my transformation from dyslexic-chubby-outcast to teenage model, and the five years I spent in the fashion business; a hideously beautiful world that I just managed to survive.”

Jen entwines and unwindes with her words and thoughts, like a cat she playfully toys with them, more than just rhymes and reasons her work opens up new worlds to make more clarity of this often insane one we all live in.
